Personal Appearance

Personal appearance means how you dress, how neat you are, and your cleanliness standards. Your appearance can influence what customers and visitors think about NCG. Personal appearance can also impact the morale of your co-workers.

During business hours or whenever you represent NCG Medical, you should be clean, well-groomed, and wear appropriate clothes. This is particularly important if your job involves dealing with customers or visitors in person. This also applies to any employee working remotely and participates in virtual meetings with customers and company meetings. You must dress appropriately and professionally conduct yourself. Your workspace must be clean, and any drinking or smoking is prohibited.

If your supervisor finds that your appearance or clothing is inappropriate, you will be asked to leave work and return appropriately dressed and groomed. If you are asked to leave, you will not be paid when you are away from work. See your supervisor if you are not sure about the correct clothing standards for your job.

Where necessary, NCG may make a reasonable accommodation to this policy for a person with a disability.

The following examples should help you understand the NCG personal appearance guidelines:

* Mustaches and beards must be clean, well-trimmed, and neat.

* Hairstyles are expected to be in good taste.

* Excessive makeup is not permitted.

* Offensive body odor and poor personal hygiene are not professionally acceptable.

* Perfume, cologne, and aftershave lotion should be used moderately or avoided altogether, as some individuals may be sensitive to strong fragrances.

* Jewelry should not be functionally restrictive, dangerous to job performance, or excessive.

Business Casual Attire

We do not want to limit your style or taste, but we have some standards about what can be worn during business hours. Clothing should be clean, neat, and still look right for business. You should never wear stained, wrinkled, frayed, or revealing clothing to work on any day. Check with your supervisor if you have any questions about what you can wear to work.

These two lists give examples of acceptable and unacceptable clothing. The lists do not include every possible piece of clothing, nor do they cover the dress code for positions dealing with face-to-face interactions with a prospect or customer. Still, they should help you understand what is acceptable. Please remember: If your supervisor finds that your appearance or clothing is inappropriate, you will be asked to leave work and return appropriately dressed and groomed. See your supervisor if you are not sure about the correct clothing standards for your job.

These are examples of acceptable clothing for casual days:

* slacks

* sweaters

* jeans

* loafers

* company-approved medical scrubs

* deck shoes

* casual dresses and skirts

* boots

* casual shirts and blouses

* clean athletic shoes

* golf shirts

* flats

* turtlenecks

* sandals

These are examples of unacceptable clothing for casual days:

* jeans that are excessively worn or faded

* spandex or other form-fitting pants

* sweatpants

* t-shirts/tank tops

* warm-up or jogging suits and pants

* sweatshirts

* shorts

* visible undergarments

* bib overalls (really?)

* slippers/flip-flops/pool shoes

Casual dress code is not a requirement. Some people may prefer to wear their traditional business clothing, especially when engaging with clients. We leave the choice up to you. However, there may be times where NCG Medical will require business attire for all staff if we are expected to have prospects/partners/clients onsite.
